Arab Youth Meeting for Reform and Thinking in February at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA)

Alexandria, 24 January 2006—The Arab Reform Forum affiliated to the BA will organize next February an Arab conference entitled, Arab Youth Meeting for Reform and Thinking, aiming at setting benchmarks to ensure the participation of Arab youth in the Arab world issues and concerns.

Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, stated that the meeting will start first week of February and will discuss four main themes, namely; the concept of democracy- Arab youth and public participation; Arab youth and employment issues; preparation of Arab youth leaderships; and youth and future visions.

The conference will tackle other different issues including: the concept of democracy, dialogue and accepting the other especially among youth; the relation between education and training and labor market with regards to educational systems outputs and labor market requirements. The participants will also study the surrounding Arab reality through highlighting training of leaderships in both public and private sectors in different Arab states.
