Child and Adolescent Creative Unit, A New Project Combines the BA and the Atelier of Alexandria

Alexandria—The recent opening of the Child and Adolescent Creative Unit at the Atelier of Alexandria, is a collaboration between the BA Arts Center and the Atelier of Alexandria. This project aims to stimulate the creative energies of expression in children of different age brackets, 5 - 8 years, 8 -12 years and 12 -15 years.

This project opens new horizons for children to positively interact through activities individually and collectively, as a specialized program in the areas of taste and criticism, and seeks to prepare cadres in the fields of artistic creation, sculpture, drama, music, film and literature and to promote an independent and critical personality among children. The Unit aims to cooperate with various educational institutions to achieve these goals.

Maestro Sherif Mohie el Din, BA Arts Center Director, states that the preparation for this project calls for the training of some cadre management activity through an intensive program and workshops run by Egyptian and international experts. He added that the planned expansion of the project is to establish a new unit specializing in the graphics, animation and cartoon to the development of educational programs and catalyst for creativity among children.

He also announced that there will be research unit for academic and experimental studies to publish the results of research, and part of the activities of this project are for children with special needs. It will also establish a digital audio-visual library specializing in the arts and culture of children serving children and researchers together, and it includes a library which contains special books, in particular artistic creativity in the child.
