Mummification in Ancient Egypt: A lecture at BA

Alexandria, 8 February 2005— The Calligraphy Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) is organizing a lecture on ancient Egyptian mummification, 9 February 2005, by its Director, Professor Abdelhalim Nureldin, Dean, Faculty of Archeology, Cairo University (Fayoum Branch).
In his lecture, Professor Nureldin will shed light on mummification and how it was one of the most important scientific advancements for ancient Egyptians, through which they proved their excellence in anatomy and medicine. Their strong belief in the afterlife was also a factor in their trying to preserve the body for the return of its soul.
In addition, Professor Nureldin will speak of the history and development of the mummification process, as well as its different steps.
The lecture takes place in the BA Auditorium at 12:00 noon.
