The Bibliotheca Alexandrina will host the shortlist announcement of the International Prize for Arabic Fiction (IPAF/Booker), on Wednesday, 19 February 2025, at the Library’s Conference Center. The long list features sixteen novels, six of which will be shortlisted.

The press conference will be attended by Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the BA; Prof. Yasir Suleiman, the Prize's Chair of Trustees; and Ms. Fleur Montanaro, the Prize’s coordinator. They will be joined by the judges Mona Baker (Chair), Said Bengrad, Maryam Al Hashimi, Bilal Orfali, and Sampsa Peltonen. The 2025 winning novel will be announced at a ceremony in Abu Dhabi, on 24 April 2025. The winner will receive $50,000 and he/she will have their work translated into other languages.

IPAF, which aims to shed light on contemporary Arabic literature, is the most prestigious literary prize in the Arab world, awarded to a novel in Arabic that the judges consider to be the best of that year.
