“The Arab Spring: A Western Religious Perspective” Lecture

Within its series of events that attempt to examine the consequences of the current events on the region as a whole, the BA Futuristic Studies Unit holds a seminar on Thursday, 23 August 2012, entitled “The Arab Spring: A Western Religious Perspective” .
 

The seminar hosts Dr. Mohamed Soffar, Professor of Political Theory, Cairo University; Priest Giuseppe Scattolin, Scholar in Islamic Sufi Heritage; and Dr. Sami Fawzi, Head of the Saint Mark Cathedral in Alexandria.
 

It tackles the standpoint of the Western religious institutions regarding the Arab Spring, especially after the rise of Islamic political groups and the downfall of totalitarian regimes in these countries.
 

The starts at 6:00 pm at the BACC Lecture Hall, and is open for public.
