The Curtain, by Youssef Idriss

In cooperation with the International Association for Creation and Training( I-Act), the Arts Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, is planning a theatre workshop based on the short story “Al- Setara” (The Curtain). The story was originally written by the late great Egyptian writer Youssif Idriss. The workshop will take place starting from May 24th to June 14th.

Directed by Swiss director Thea Dimasch, the play will portray both Swiss and Egyptian visions of the original story. Performers will include four Swiss actors, four Swiss actresses, four Egyptian actors as well as four Egyptian actresses. The team will work to transform the original short story into a play script. The play will also be performed on stage in Egypt, Switzerland and Jordan.
