The BA Futuristic Studies Unit has released the second issue of the Awrak series in English. The new issue is titled “Memory and the Future of History” and is written by Dr. Khaled Azab, Head of the BA Central Projects and Services Sector.

The author believes that the future of history will not rely only on text. Instead, it will depend on a new type of historical books known as “coffee books”, which encompass pictures and drawings (graphics) and may include a CD or DVD of a film or a recording of an event related to the subject of the book.

He also claimed that manuscripts will be available through digital libraries on the Internet, and that the role of historians in this case will be confined to academic studies and specialized research or in helping provide historical material on the Internet, in addition to explaining history and looking into its lacunae. He also pointed out that The Memory of Modern Egypt digital library allows its visitors to explore Egyptian history through several main sections.
