BA Launches Project to Document Egyptian Left-Wing Movement

The BA Sinnari House (Cairo) has launched a major project that aims to document the history of the Egyptian left-wing movement as part of the BA’s efforts to preserve Egypt’s contemporary history.
The BA aims to document the Egyptian left-wing movement through personal contacts and by encouraging those who possess any documents that might be of use to the project to offer the BA a digital copy. The BA has managed to document several personal papers belonging to Youssef Darwish and Dr. Ahmed Abdalla Rozza’s personal collection, in addition to other documents and files documenting the history of the Egyptian left-wing movement . Among the most important documents obtained by the BA are the documents belonging to the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam, known as the Netherlands Institute Collection. The collection was obtained by the BA as part of a joint project established with the Arab and African Research Center.
The BA Sinnari House (Cairo) organizes training courses and discussion circles in several fields of knowledge to foster talented Egyptian youth. The role of Sinnari House is an extension of the mission set by the BA. It aims to recapture the spirit of the old Sinnari House, which was the original headquarters of the Institute d’Egypte, and become a platform for science, culture, and the arts.
