A Lecture by Dr. Kahn, Co-inventor of the Internet

Alexandria—The BA Information and Communication Technology Sector (ICT) organizes a Lecture on Thursday, 19 November 2009, entitled “Managing Information on the Net: The Digital Object Architecture”, by Dr. Robert Elliot Kahn.
Dr. Kahn is an engineer who, along with Vinton G. Cerf, invented the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and the Internet Protocol (IP), the technologies used to transmit information on the Internet.
The Digital Object Architecture is a very general architectural approach to managing information on the net, much as the Internet architecture was a very general approach to interconnecting networks and computers. The Lecture reviews key attributes of the open architecture in the context of its application to information management on the Internet. It also presents the Digital Object Architecture and its role in the handling of institutional as well as personal and/or proprietary information, along with the way in which organizations can both protect and share information in the future.
The Lecture is held at the BACC Delegates Hall at 12:00 noon, and is open for public.
