Alexandria—As part of the strong cultural relations between Egypt and France, M. Denis Lebeau, the French Cultural Attaché and M. Dovert, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, accompanied by a senior delegation, donated 100 titles to the BA.

“This donation will be followed by a valuable donation from the French National Library including thousands of publications issued during the past six years, including books about Egypt. The first shipment will arrive during a couple of months”, said M. Dovert.

He added that France supported the BA since the inception of the Revival of the Ancient Library of Alexandria Project, and that the New Library of Alexandria has become a true meeting place for cultures and peoples.

“The donated books encompass French titles that were translated into Arabic, as part of a French project aiming to introduce the French culture and thought to Egyptians and Arabs”, said Dr. Khaled Azab, Director of the BA Media Department.

Dr. Azab pointed out that the BA also donated all the Library’s publications since its inauguration to the French National Library, in recognition of the strong ties between the two sides.
