Posted on

Alexandria— “Indexing for Med-Mem” training workshop took place at the BA from 12 to 14 October 2009. The Training was organized by the “Mediterranean Memories” (Med-Mem) Project, led by the Institut National de l’Audiovisuel (INA) France.

The aim was to build-up a shared-access data base of important Mediterranean audiovisual works and digitize it, with twenty participants on board. The training consisted of practical exercises, using works from the audiovisual archives of the participating television companies.

This ambitious collaborative project will put online the audiovisual archives of more than 17 partners, television companies and organisations working in the audiovisual world, making them available to the general public for the first time. Med-Mem focuses on the conservation of an endangered cultural heritage, while spreading awareness about the legal aspects implicit in that conservation.

“Mediterranean Memories” was initiated by INA. The three -year Project is financed by the European Union (EU), and is part of the Euromed Heritage IV programme.
