Alexandria—The BA launches the second issue of the Arab Observatory Report, an attempt to monitor and measure the reform efforts on all levels in the Arab world, on 15 October 2009.

The event will start by an opening speech by Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, followed by two sessions: first one entitled “Arab Reform Endeavors”, and moderated by Journalist Saad Hagras. The second session is an open discussion moderated by Mr. Sameh Fawzy, Deputy Director of the BA Dialogue Forum, with the participation of Maged Ossman, Moustafa Elwy, Kadry Hefny, Shaymaa Hussein, and Abdel Basset Abdel Moaty.

The importance of this observatory lies in its ability to measure the status of reform in the Arab world objectively and transparently, based on precise measurable indicators, which help in following up and evaluating reform efforts according to standards that allow comparing the level of reform across different countries and following up the pace of reform within time frames.

The Opening Session starts at 11:15 at the BACC Delegates Hall.
