Anna Lindh holds a Cultural Euro-Mediterranean Festival

Alexandria— The Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures organizes Farah El-Bahr, the first annual Mediterranean cultural festival taking place at Qaitbey Citadel in Alexandria on 16 and 17 October 2009.

The event, which is organized under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and the Supreme Council of Antiquities, in cooperation with the European Commission and the BA, is part of the Anna Lindh Foundation’s program aiming at promoting a better understanding of the culture of the other, and facilitating mutual knowledge between different communities living within the Euro-Mediterranean region. Taking place in the framework of the Alexandria International Festival (AlexFest), the Anna Lindh Mediterranean Festival gives the Egyptian society, and Alexandrian residents, in particular, the opportunity to explore the cultural diversity within Egypt as well as other Mediterranean countries.

Farah El-Bahr includes of a variety of cultural activities, including traditional dancing from Palestine and Greece, theatre performances, storytelling and handicrafts. A number of special activities will be dedicated to children. In the evenings, renowned contemporary Egyptian bands will be performing in the Citadel.

Cultural organizations and institutions will also benefit from a promotional space, where they will have the opportunity to present their projects, exchange good practices and develop further cooperation in the field of culture.
