Donating a Rare Ottoman Map to the BA

Alexandria—Sheikh Hassan bin Muhammed bin Ali Al-Thani, Vice Chairman of the Qatar Museums Authority Board of Trustees, donated to the BA a rare Ottoman map of Pilgrimage route from Istanbul to Mecca.
Dr. Khaled Azab, Director of BA Media Department, stated that it is one of the oldest topographical maps of the Gulf area. It dates back to the beginning of the 17th century AD. It is a roll of eight pieces of paper 343.5 x 43 cm, approximately 3 meters length and half a meter width.
