Al-Azhar Scientific Manuscripts in a Book and on CDs in the Alexandrina International Book Fair

Alexandria—on the occasion of the Fourth Alexandrina International Book Fair, the BA issued a book entitled "Islamic and Arab Civilization Contribution in Astronomy: Scientific Manuscripts of Al-Azhar's Library". The book was published lately by the Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT). The Center prepares publications on the contributions of Arabs in the progress of science and knowledge as part of a partnership with the UNESCO.
The book, which is the second in a series on the contribution of Islamic and Arab civilization in Science, documents a collection of manuscripts of Al-Azhar Library on Astronomy, with a special emphasis on the contribution of Arabs and Muslims in science.
Al-Azhar manuscripts on Astronomy amounts to 434 manuscripts and essays by around 136 authors and editors. Most of the manuscripts are in Arabic, except for two in Turkish and one in Persian.
