Sixty Thousand Visitor to the BA International Book Fair

Alexandria—the BA International Book Fair witnessed an increasing number of visitors amounting to about 60 thousand visitors during the past two days.

In other news, the Arab League Educational Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALESCO) donated a complete copy of the it"s publications to the BA on the occasion of the organization"s 35th anniversary. Accordingly the fair"s organizing committee decided to open the fair for free to encourage students’ participation.

The Lebanese delegation participating in the Third Reform Conference, chaired by Bahaa AlKhazen, the Chief Editor of Alhayat (based in London) and three members: Abdel Wahab Badrakhan, Ghassan Salama, and Mona Fiyad visited the Book Fair and praised the Arab and international participation in the Fair.

Several international organizations expressed their willingness to participate in the BA Book Fair next year including, the Islamic Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and the Kuwaiti National Council of Culture, Arts and Literature (NCCAL).

Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, decided to waive the fees on the participation of cultural institutions in the Fair, provided that these institutions give special discounts. Dr. Gaber Asfour, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Culture decided to give a 50 % discount on all the publications of the National Translation Project.
