Collaboration agreement between Marseille’s Bibliothèque Municipale and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina

Alexandria, 24 February 2005—Within the framework of collaboration between the Library of Alexandria and libraries worldwide, Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), and Mr. Jacques Rocca-Serra, Deputy Mayor of Marseilles, International Affairs and Partnership with Mediterranean countries, signed a collaboration agreement between Bibliothèque Municipale of Marseille, France and BA, on 23 February 2005. Consul Louis Blin, French General Consul to Alexandria, and Ambassador Taher Khalifa, Head of External Relations at BA, were among the attendants.
Terms of the agreement include the exchange of manuscripts and publications, the organizing of lectures and seminars, as well as the cooperating on national and international levels for funding.
During the event, Mr. Jacques Rocca-Serra presented a Medal of the City of Marseilles to Dr. Serageldin, on behalf of the city’s citizens, in appreciation of his role in promoting culture.
