Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Center of Francophone Activities concluded its 2025 activities by announcing that 24 high school students had won the opportunity to attend local and international film festivals. The students represented a number of Francophone schools in eight Egyptian governorates.

In collaboration with the Centre Méditérranéen de la Communication Audiovisuelle (CMCA) in Marseille, the Center organized last October workshops and a competition for the eighth consecutive year to teach Francophone school students the principles of film criticism in French, with the aim of supporting efforts to develop students' cinematic awareness.

The jury, chaired by Dr. Marwa Al-Sahn, the Center Director, announced the names of the winners from among the students who submitted the best reviews of three documentary films selected by the Marseille Festival and suitable for secondary school students.

Four students were selected to win the first prize, which is to attend the 29th edition of the Mediterranean Film Festival in France from 1 to 6 December 2025.

Ten students won the second prize, which is to attend the 46th Cairo International Film Festival from 13 to 17 November 2025. The students represented the governorates of Cairo, Alexandria, Dakahlia, and Port Said.

The third prize was to attend the second edition of the Fayoum International Film Festival for Environmental and Contemporary Arts, from 25 to 29 November 2025, and was received by ten students from the governorates of Fayoum, Gharbia, Port Said, and Matrouh.

The organizing committee confirmed that there will be other festivals, the winners of which will be announced at the beginning of 2026.
