The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing the eleventh session in the “Alexandria Dialogues” series, entitled “Culture as a Gateway to Development,” on Sunday, 30 November 2025, at 12:00 pm, in the BACC Delegates Hall. The session will feature a group of leading sociologists from the Arab world, including Dr. Muhammad Farhat (Palestine), Professor of Sociology at Al-Quds Open University; Dr. Dolly Al-Sarraf (Lebanon), Professor of Sociology at the Lebanese University; and Dr. Saeed El-Masry (Egypt), Professor of Sociology at Cairo University.
The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and will examine the central role of culture in supporting development paths and the impact of social knowledge in shaping more sustainable future visions for Arab societies.
On the same day, the Library will also host the twelfth session in the “Alexandria Dialogues” series, entitled "Humanities and Fine Arts: Towards New Horizons," from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, in the BACC Delegates Hall. Participants include Mr. Tarek El-Koumy, President of the Visual Artists Syndicate, and Dr. Moustafa Issa, critic and visual artist. The session will be moderated by Dr. Yasser Qonsowa, Professor of Modern and Contemporary Philosophy at Tanta University, and will discuss the interrelationship between visual arts and the humanities, and how these fields can open new horizons in knowledge and creativity.
It is worth noting that the “Alexandria Dialogues” series was launched by the Library on the initiative of its Director Dr. Ahmed Zayed as a regular open meeting with the public to discuss political, economic, social, and cultural issues, and to promote the role of the BA as a platform for dialogue that connects intellectuals, decision-makers, and the public, and contributes to the development of future policies that support the Egyptian cultural movement.
