The Bibliotheca Alexandrina hosted Dr. Masoud Shoman, one of the great poets of colloquial Arabic, at the Arabic Poetry Forum held by the Library with the aim of enriching the Arabic poetry movement on a large scale that encompasses all corners of the Arab world. The forum brings together creative minds from different generations and diverse backgrounds to discuss the state of poetry in terms of creativity and criticism.
During the meeting, Shoman answered a series of questions about the relationship between slang poetry and academic studies, how to deconstruct collective memory, and the importance of slang poetry in mapping the social landscape of the nation.
At the end of the meeting, Prof. Mohamed Shousha, Professor of Literary Criticism at the Faculty of Dar Al-Ulum, Fayoum University, presented a research paper examining and analyzing Masoud Shoman's poetic creativity.
