BA Remote Workshop: "Methods of Archaeological Documentation and Heritage Conservation"

The BA Information Institutions and Professional skills Department organized a four-day remote workshop entitled "Methods of Archaeological Documentation and Heritage Conservation", from 27-30 October 2024.
The workshop focused on introducing the concept of heritage, its significance, and how to preserve it, by addressing the various ancient and modern documentation methods, in addition to highlighting the contributions of the science of surveying with regard to the preservation of archaeological heritage. It also underlined the importance of using modern digital technology and artificial intelligence during the various stages of documentation.
It also included several key topics, including "LiDAR Scanning" technology, "Laser Scanner" technology and their comparison with artificial intelligence applications.
The workshop comes as part of the cultural program of the Alexandria Project (Library Sector), which aims to serve researchers in the study of the ancient Library of Alexandria and the history and civilization of the ancient city of Alexandria from its birth until the Arab conquest of Egypt.
