Colombian Writer Laura Restrepo Lectures at the BA

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in collaboration with the Colombian Embassy in Cairo, is organizing a lecture by renowned Colombian writer Laura Restrepo, on Wednesday, 8 November 2023, at 11:00 am, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center, Multipurpose Hall.
It is worth noting that Latin American novels are among the most popular books around the world, perhaps because their peoples have suffered greatly under colonialism and resisted over the decades through revolutions, hence their literature was the embodiment of the conditions of their country and their struggle.
Laura Restrepo is one of the most prominent figures of literature and political thought in Latin America, and her books have been translated into several languages, including Arabic, such as Delirium, Leopard in the Sun and Sweet Company.
The lecture will examine the literary view of Latin societies towards the Arab world, as well as the similarity between Latin and Arab societies.
The lecture will be delivered in Spanish and English, with Arabic translation.
The event is open to the public.
