The Bibliotheca Alexandrina maintained its seat as a distinguished member of the Steering Committee of the International Internet Preservation Consortium (IIPC) for the third consecutive term, following its first election in 2017.

The Library will continue to develop strategies for the International Internet Preservation Consortium (IIPC) as a member of the Steering Committee which consists of 15 organizations, including the Library of Congress, the British Library and the French National Library (La Bibliothèque nationale de France), starting next January and for a period of three years.

The Steering Committee received nominations for the five vacant seats, and members settled in mid-September on the continued candidature of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, along with the Library and Archives of Canada, the Swiss National Library and the Los Alamos National Laboratory Library, in addition to the new member, the University of North Texas Libraries.

It is worth mentioning that Eng. Youssef El-Dakar, Director of the International Institute of Information Science, BA ICT Sector, is the current Chairman of the Executive Board of the International Internet Preservation Consortium's Steering Committee, after being elected in January 2023 by the members for a one-year term.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina joined the International Internet Preservation Consortium (IIPC) in 2010, and has played a prominent role in several web archiving initiatives held in partnership with international institutions as part of its mission as an exceptional global research institution.
