The BA Special Needs Section received the Silver Certificate from the World Disability Union (WDU) for its leadership and prominent role in all the services it provides to people with special needs. The award recognized the international accessibility standards applied by the BA, as the Library pays great attention to all segments of society in general and to people with special needs in particular.

The Library’s leading role among all state institutions has been manifested through its various events and activities for people with special needs, in order to encourage them to read, develop their intellectual and life skills, and teach them the necessary skills required to qualify them for the job market. The Library also organizes programs, cultural activities, interactive workshops, remote lectures, and training courses throughout the year for people with special needs (regardless of their category or age). Moreover, it holds lectures for parents to help them deal with their special needs children, as well as empower and develop them to be more productive and interactive persons within their communities.

The BA has not only made content available, but has also offered the latest assistive technologies to enable people with special needs to become independent and self-reliant, in addition to providing human expertise that enables them to develop their social skills and knowledge.
