Dr. Ismail Serageldin Goes to Second Youth Employment Summit

Dr.
Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, will be attending
the Second Youth Employment Summit (YES), hosted by India. Held from 14th-
18th December 2003, the Summit will include participation from
several youth and employment ministers, several hundred young people as well as
government and institutional representatives from all over the world.
The
Bibliotheca Alexandrina had hosted the First Youth Employment Summit in
September 2002 where 2000 youths and 45 ministers representing 140 countries.
Participants had announced their firm commitment towards this international
campaign that aims to find 500 million permanent jobs for young people around
the world by the year 2012.
The
Third Youth Employment Summit (YES) is scheduled to be held in Mexico in 2004.
