Nanoparticles and Nanomaterials at the BA

Posted on

Alexandria—Dr. Syed Ali will give a lecture entitled “Nanoparticles and Nanomaterials: Friend or Foe” at the BA on 16 June 2009.

Nanomaterials have been used to create materials that have novel physicochemical properties and functions due to their miniscule size. Limited studies assessing the toxicity of nanoparticles are available for risk assessment of nanomaterials. Different ways are now being explored to understand both the neurotoxicity and potential benefits of these nanomaterials using nanosensor. Implication to these effects are enormous; therefore, further studies are warrant to understand the nature of these nanomaterials and characteristic as friend or foe.

Dr. Syed Ali is currently Head of Neurochemistry Laboratory, Division of Neurotoxicology, National Center for Toxicological Research, US Food and Drug Administration, Jefferson, Arkansas, USA.

The Lecture will be held at 11:00 am, BACC Small Theater.
