Used Books in the Alexandria International Book Fair

Alexandria— The BA Seventh Alexandria International Book Fair, held between 19 February and 4 March 2009, will host a special festival about Used Books. It aims to provide readers with these used books in the shadow of the increase in the price of books and the rising demand on rare books published in Egypt in the 19th century and Arab books published in Europe since the 16th century, in addition to the first editions of old books and the first issues of magazines such as El-Helal, Al-Moktataf, Al-Ostaz, Al-Urwah Al-Wuthqa, Al-Resaala, Al-Mawred, Aafaq, Al-Thaqafa, among others.

Dr. Khaled Azab, Director of the BA Media Department, stated that the Fair will have a special pavilion for rare and valuable books as well as old books, satisfying the hobby of many readers of collecting old and rare books. The pavilion of used books will include different kinds of books: religious, university books, cultural, novels, poetry, periodicals and English books.

The BA organizes the Alexandria International Book Fair annually. The National Translation Center and the “Memory of Modern Egypt” Project will be the guests of honor of the seventh edition of the Fair.

This year’s fair will also have a lot of Egyptian, Arab and foreign publishers. There will be a special pavilion for the “Memory of Modern Egypt” publications, namely Aly Pasha Ibrahim, Akhbar Al-Youm, Shura Council Catalogue, People’s Assembly Catalogue, The Photographic Memory of Cairo Catalogue, Bulaq Press, Rose Al-Youssef , Hassan Fathy, The Boutros Family and Dar El-Mahfouzat Catalogue.
