The Omani National Records and Archives Authority Delegation Visits the BA

A delegation from the Omani National Records and Archives Authority visited the BA on Wednesday, 5 August 2015 to become more acquainted with the institution as a beacon of civilization and knowledge in Egypt and the world. They were also introduced to the latest technologies used in the field of manuscript digitization and restoration at the BA.

The delegation was received by Dr. Sherif Riad, Head of the BA External Relations Sector They discussed collaboration opportunities between the BA and the National Records and Archives Authority since the BA is a pioneer in the field of heritage documentation and digitization, and it carried out a large number of projects to digitize documents and restore historical records and manuscripts. The BA also collaborated with several Arab and international organizations working in the same field.

The delegation met with the BA Information Communication Technology Sector representatives to provide them with more information on the BA digitization projects, and they were also able to visit the “Our Digital World” exhibition.

The delegation also toured the Manuscripts Museum; the Restoration Lab; the Chemistry and Environmental Monitoring Lab; the Restoration Unit; and the Rare Books and Collections Section. Later on, they were received by Dr. Mohamed Soliman, Head of the Manuscripts Museum, who presented the most important projects carried out by the Museum and discussed future collaboration opportunities.

The delegation went on a tour of the BA and were introduced to its diverse activities and different halls, such as the Main Library Reading Area, the Callimachus Triangle, the Antiquities Museum, the Culturama, and the Sadat Museum.
