A Senior Indian Delegation Visits the BA

Alexandria— A senior Indian delegation, chaired by Mr. Badal Keih, Assistant of Indian Minister of Culture, and Dr. Keih Keih Panirgy, Director of Raja Ram Mohan Roy Library in Calcutta, visited the BA today, Monday, 29 October 2007, as one of the cultural and scientific landmarks not only in Egypt and the Middle East, but in the entire world.

The delegation met with Dr. Magdy Nagi, Head of the ICT Sector, Dr. Sohair Wastawy; Head of the Library Services Sector; and Dr. Youssef Ziedan, Head of Manuscripts Center and Museum, to discuss means of cooperation between India and the BA; to benefit from the BA's experience in the digitization of knowledge and heritage, and to review the BA specialized libraries activities including: the Children's Library, the Taha Hussein Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired, the Young People's Library, Arts and Multimedia Library, and others.

Ambassador Hagar Islambouly, Head of the BA External Relations Sector accompanied the delegation in a tour of the Library, its affiliated exhibitions and museums, and different services offered by the BA to members and visitors. The tour included the Manuscripts Museum, the Digital Lab, the Internet Archive, VISTA, the Planetarium Science Center, and the Alexploratorium.
