The BA will hold a concert on Thursday, 27 September 2007, featuring the ten Adwar of Sayed Darwish, which are considered a fortune of musical heritage. The concert is performed by the BA Orchestra, conducted by Ahmed El-Hennawy, and soloists: Mirham Damir and Hisham El-Gendy.
The idea of reviving Sayed Darwish’s Adwar started by collecting all the available records of the Adwar in Sayed Darwish's voice or by one of his contemporaries, documenting the material through specialists in the field, recomposing a selection of Sayed Darwish’s Adwar with a contemporary orchestral arrangement, and finally, recording the recomposed Adwar by young talented voices, in cooperation with the Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT). The BA will also issue 5 CDs containing the old records of Sayed Darwish’s Adwar with a contemporary orchestral arrangement. The project is the first of its kind to revive and reformulate the Egyptian heritage from a contemporary perspective.
The concert will be held at 21:00 hrs. at the Small Theater, BA Conference Center.
